It makes me laugh . . .

Each time I look at my "most recent post", I have to laugh!  Because . . . each time I write, I determine to not let so much time go by.  And yet . . . . here it is a couple of years later.

Sooooo, what have I been doing?

In September, 2023, my loving sister, Diane, flew to Phoenix to take a class with me at Mulqueen's Sewing Center that was taught by Becky Thompson of Power Tools with Thread!!!!   What fun it was to meet and chat with Becky! That woman is an incredible wealth of information and is wonderfully kind in sharing it with anyone and everyone!  It was a Mulqueen Event so the opportunity to get a screaming deal on a Brother Luminaire was one that I could not pass up!  I had been a loyal Husqvarna Viking user for about 30 years and my sister convinced me to switch to a Brother.  I am so very happy that I did!

Prior to  my sister coming, all my kids had come home for a family reunion in July. With my kids, kids in law, and grandkids, we numbered over 40 and had to rent 3 Air B and Bs in the mountains (Phoenix was too hot)!  During that reunion, we admitted to our kids that our home was a bit much for my husband and I to handle.  We'd been living there for almost 30 years and the upkeep of the pool and yard was claiming all of our time and energy.  We were also tired of the heat and the increasing traffic. We promised the kids we would sell the house and leave the valley within two years. They were quite supportive of that and helped us narrow down where we thought we wanted to live.

When my sister was out, we took a ride to a town in northern Arizona and looked around to see if the area was appealing to us or not.  It was.

In July, 2024, we bought a home in a town and hour and a half north of Phoenix and started our move.  After much fixing up and clearing out, we sold our family home and left the valley.  I jokingly tell people we ran away from our kids but the reality is that we wanted to be close enough for them to get to us either by airplane or drive.  And for those still living in the valley, this gives them a cool respite during those hot summer months when they want to escape!

I was busy being a project manager for getting our home ready to sell, and spending time sorting, packing, and tossing!

Now we have been here for almost a year and are fairly settled.  I still work part time but it is a remote job that I have done for several years.  This gives me time to play in the yard planning out gardening, as well as spend time in my sewing room. We have met many of our neighbors and quickly made friends of them!

Diane came out for an extended visit in January and of course, I put her to work!  If you look at her January 2025 newsletter on CaDi Corners.com, you will see what we did!  It was a lot of work but a lot of fun!

My sister has really built up the long-arm part of the business and is quite the artist!  Her quilting is phenomenal and I am often the recipient of her talents.  She has also done more digitizing for the company.  Diane - for years - has "whipped up" embroidery files for me and is a professional digitizer.  She is now creating machine embroideries for CaDi Corners. If you are a machine embroiderer, I would encourage you to check out her creations!

No photos for this post and I truly hope to be able to write again soon!

What have I been up to?

YES!!!  It's only been one week since my last post! I was working along on my May project bucket when my featherweight seized up on me....
